Whitney Downing is a member of the Class of 2009 at Maryville College in Tennessee. She plans to graduate in May of 2009 with a Bachelor's degree in Writing and Communication with a minor in Computer Science. She was a member and 2007-2008 co-captain of the Maryville College Equestrian Team, the 2006-2009 Web Editor of the MC student-run publication The Highland Echo, and a recipent of the Dean's Scholarship. She has worked for the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Oak Ridge, Tennessee as a student intern in both the Information Technology Services Division and the Communications Office. In late summer of 2008, Whitney traveled to Tibet and the Guizhou province of China for a ASIANetwork grant sponsoring a study of globalization's effects on local ethnic groups. Her hobbies include freelance web development, horseback riding with a focus on conditioned response training, and intensely disliking Internet Explorer.
